Setting You Up for Success
Getting Client Consent
Before using a client's information to generate reports, make sure they understand how their data is used and have given informed consent.
Scrippio uses the session notes and documents you attach to generate draft reports. Because this involves processing client information, it's good practice — and in many cases a professional obligation — to inform clients and obtain their consent before you start.
What to explain to clients
Most clients are fine with AI-assisted documentation once they understand what it means in practice. Keep the explanation simple and focus on what matters to them:
- That you use software to help write reports from your session notes — the AI drafts the report, and you review and approve every word before it goes anywhere.
- That their information is used only for their own reports — it's not shared with other clients or used to train AI models.
- That the final report is always reviewed by you, the clinician — the AI is a drafting tool, not a decision-maker.
Example language
You can adapt this for your intake process or service agreement:
"I use AI-assisted software to help write your reports. The software drafts content based on the notes I take during our sessions. I review everything it produces before it's finalised — nothing goes out without my approval. Your information is only used for your own reports and is not shared with anyone else."
When to get consent
- New clients — include it in your intake paperwork or service agreement before the first session.
- Existing clients — a brief verbal explanation and note in your records is usually sufficient, but follow your organisation's guidance.
